Using StyleWriter with Ami Pro
With Ami Pro for Windows, StyleWriter uses DDE to offer you interactive editing of your document. The StyleWriter window sits at the top of your screen with Ami Pro below so you can make corrections from StyleWriter or edit your document in Ami Pro. StyleWriter keeps an up-to-date display of your text and its advice as you work in the StyleWriter window. When editing in Ami Pro, the display updates when you click on StyleWriter’s Resume button.
To get StyleWriter to check your document from Ami Pro, you can either:
- go to the Ami Pro Tools menu and select Style Check, or
- use the key combination Ctrl+Shift+S.
Ami Pro calls StyleWriter to start checking your document right away.
Alternatively, you can run StyleWriter from the Program Manager by double-clicking on the StyleWriter icon or from the File Manager. If you have one document open on your desktop, StyleWriter starts checking it immediately. If you have several documents open, StyleWriter displays a list of them for you to choose from.
Once you ask StyleWriter to check your document, it sets up DDE links with Ami Pro and with the text of your document. This lets StyleWriter make changes to your document while still keeping track of the changes you make.
Note: Ami Pro does not allow overlapping bookmarks, so if your document contains bookmarks that extend between paragraphs, there may be a conflict that prevents StyleWriter from inserting its bookmarks. If this happens, reduce the size of your bookmarks, or increase the Length of DDE Items in the DDE Options box.
